Up next: Updates on Azriel by Lee James, Traitor by Laurie Lucking, and Silence the Siren by Michele Israel Harper, the next three releases from L2L2 Publishing!

We are pleased to reveal three new titles soon to be added to our L2L2 Library. Release dates coming soon!

Silence the Siren:

Huntress Ro LeFèvre is offered a job to hunt down and kill a pest plaguing the Seven Seas. A siren has been sinking the king of Angleterre’s ships, and in turn, vast amounts of his wealth.

Fleeing heartbreak, Ro gladly accepts, but there’s just one problem. The king will credit the Marquis de la Valère, and no other women are allowed on the voyage.

Ro will just see about that.

Hiring an all-female crew without the king’s knowledge, Ro hopes they will follow her to the Caribbean, not take the gold and flee.

But when Ro is plunged deep into the ocean by the siren she’s being paid to kill, presented the sirens’ side of the story at knife point, and pressed to join them or die, Ro must decide whether to complete her mission, join the sirens, or something in between.

Before the sirens sink the ship full of men above.

This fast-paced, high-action adventure is a Little Mermaid reimagining and the second book in the Beast Hunter series.

Queen of the Moon:

Zy has no memory of life before ruling her moon. And it doesn’t bother her in the slightest. Each day is the same: get yelled at by her mother—who is not happy to have been dragged along to the moon’s wasteland—stroll through her town to ensure everything is running smoothly, and then dance under the stars until the Silvers show up for their nightly battle.

And her people watch her fight for them night after night, hatred burning in their eyes.

Her people may snub her, may whisper of overthrowing her, but Zy couldn’t care less. She is queen, and she will be until the Silvers defeat her or she finds a way out of her bargain with the King of the Underworld.

Or so she thinks until a stranger breaches the barriers of her moon for the first time.

As the only one standing between her people and the annihilation of the human race, Zy isn’t about to let some attractive stranger end her rule—but a little flirting never hurt anyone. Anything to keep him from discovering her secret.

Ghostly Vendetta:

“Dare to spend the night in mysterious Rutherford Hall! When? The 175th anniversary of the Rutherford family’s unsolved murder. Ghosts guaranteed. Cash prize: $5,000. Want more deets? Ask Tyler, Stewart, or James.”

I laughed aloud as I read the flyer. Yeah, right. To think that I, Candace Marshall, world’s biggest scaredy-cat, would go anywhere near some haunted house, much less spend the night in one. I crumpled the stupid thing, pitched it in the nearest trash can, and went on my merry, oblivious, and soon-to-be-scared-out-of-my-mind way.

* * *

Candace Marshall doesn’t do ghosts. Or zombies. Or vampires. Or mummies.

Anything scary, really.

When she finds herself signed up for a dare she’s gone out of her way to avoid, things spiral out of control. Quickly.

Stuck in a mansion alongside a vengeful spirit, a miffed boyfriend, and a room full of people she doesn’t know or even like (if she’s being completely honest here), she must decide whether to act brave or let the coward within show.

Or kill the person who got her involved in the first place.

Ghostly Vendetta is a prequel novella to Zombie Takeover: Book One of the Candace Marshall Chronicles.

About the Author:

Michele Israel Harper spends her days as an acquisitions editor for L2L2 Publishing and her nights spinning her own tales. Sleep? Sometimes… She has her Bachelor of Arts in history, is slightly obsessed with all things French—including Jeanne d’Arc and La Belle et la Bête—and loves curling up with a good book more than just about anything else.

Author of Wisdom & Folly: SistersZombie TakeoverBeast HunterKill the Beast and the soon-to-be-released Silence the Siren, Queen of the Moon, and Ghostly Vendetta, Michele prays her involvement in writing, editing, and publishing will touch many lives in the years to come. Coming soon:

Today we are thrilled to interview Amy Brock McNew. Join us as we learn more about Rebirth: Book One of the Reluctant Warrior Chronicles and, more importantly, the author herself. Let’s get started!

We are so excited to have you on the blog today, Amy! Tell us a little more about your soon-to-be-released novel, Rebirth. How did you start writing the Reluctant Warrior Chronicles?

  • I’ve been writing all my life, pretty much. Songs, poems, short stories. I have several articles in local publications. But I’d always wanted to write a novel. It wasn’t until after I started having back problems and had to give up my job as a nurse that I finally decided to write a book. No more excuses, you know? I wanted to write something that wouldn’t just entertain, but would help people too. To use my rather dark past to reach out to young women especially. But I didn’t want to write a memoir. I love speculative fiction (putting it mildly!), it intrigues and challenges me, so I knew I’d go the paranormal/supernatural route. I decided to bring the spiritual world into the physical realm, making internal struggles external, and mix it with my personal experiences. The idea took on a life of its own!

Do you have any writing rituals?

  • Well, I’m OCD, literally, so yeah, I do! Music is number one. I can write on my laptop, my Surface, even my phone, no big deal, but I have to have my tunes. If I’m home, I crank up the stereo. If not, earbuds are my best friend. Once I have my music, I usually grab either coffee or a cherry vanilla Coke. Then I settle in a comfy seat and get busy. It doesn’t really matter where I am, as long as I have those things.

Wow, so music is huge for you! What do you listen to while you write? Do you have one big playlist or several?

  • I’ve been a singer and played piano all my life. In fact, the first thing I ever wrote was a song. Music is in my soul, so it shapes and informs my writing. I listen to a rather eclectic variety of tunes, from classical to hard rock, to Christian metal, to country, to orchestral numbers. Some of my faves are RED, Tremonti, Two Steps From Hell, The Rigs, Fireflight, The Protest, and Audiomachine. I have several playlists. For each main character, the main couple, certain types of scenes. Each chapter title in TRWC is a song title, a song that encapsulates the mood of the chapter. For me, writing and music are inseparable.

Love that! “Writing and music are inseparable.” What’s the best writing advice you’ve ever received?

  • Two pieces of advice guide me. First: Get your characters stuck up in a tree, then throw rocks at them. The bigger the rocks, the better. And I follow that. I’m horrible to my characters! The second is a quote from Anton Checkhov. “Don’t tell me the moon is shining, show me the glint of light on broken glass.” Love that.

Although you don’t write typical CBA—your writing is intensely gritty and full of real-life heartache and struggles—Scripture seems to be a huge influence for you. Do you have a verse that inspires your writing?

  • That’s easy. My life verse. Isaiah 41:10 (NKJV): Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Beautiful. Thank you so much for joining us today, Amy! Before we go, what’s one weird or quirky thing others may not know about you?

  • Okay, confession. I have this thing about the packets you get with takeout orders that have utensils, napkins, and maybe salt and pepper or a hand wipe in them. I save them. In my kitchen, I actually have a drawer filled with them. Don’t ask. I have no idea other than it seems wasteful to pitch them, and hey, they may come in handy someday!

You never know, right? We hear you have some exciting news about your book’s cover? Maybe even a release date?

  • Hmmm…maybe you’ll have to go to my website (AmyBrockMcNew.com) on March 31st to find out. ;)

Thank you again, Amy. We cannot wait until March 31st!

We hope you have enjoyed this peek into the lives of our authors. Sign up to receive more author news, new releases, and updates.

Today we are interviewing Michele Israel Harper. Her books, Wisdom & Folly, parts one and two, released November of last year, and Zombie Takeover will release later this year. Let’s find out more about her!

Welcome to the blog today, Michele! What is the most important thing to you when it comes to telling a story?

Hi! Thank you so much for having me! :) Oh, wow, that’s a tough one. I almost hate to say this, but I think it’s the ending. Just about anything can go wrong with my characters–whether I wrote them or someone else–but I’ve got to have my happy ending. I need closure. Resolution. Without it, I’m a crying, sobbing mess (books come to life, people!) and I walk around in a state of mourning for days. Or until the next book comes out. Which can be a long time.

How did you come up with the story for Zombie Takeover?

It was a dream. I’m not joking. I’d written this monstrous historical fiction, and it was terrible. Seriously. So bad. I had no idea where to go from there, but I knew I wanted to write more. But what? I prayed about it, went to bed, and had the most awesome dream in my entire life. Seriously. So freaking cool. It was more vibrant and intense than any movie I’d seen. Gerard Butler was in it (um, swoon!) and we were at a movie theater in the middle of the desert. Something stupid happened and all the other movie-goers turned into zombies. I was so freaked out–I hate anything scary! ANYTHING–but he was all awesome and badass and saved our lives. I woke up at a crazy intense part and almost cried. It couldn’t be over yet! It couldn’t!

The next night, same dream, but I got the ending this time. I woke up amazed. That had never happened to me before. I spent the next couple of weeks writing the book start to finish, taking several month to fill in the gaps and flesh out the story–then spent three years querying publishing houses, getting it edited, polished, the cover designed–you name it. The acquisition editors loved it, but most publishing houses don’t publish Christian zombie fiction. Especially with such a quirky and spastic main character as Candace Marshall. (No resemblance to me whatsoever. None.)

What about Wisdom & Folly?

I was reading Proverbs 8 and 9 about the woman Wisdom being around before the world was formed, being the Lord’s master craftsman, building her home, and sending out her maidens to gather those who wanted to learn from her. Then I read about Folly, who was loud and brash and her paths led to the deepest hell. I started shrieking and bouncing all over the place–a common occurrence, unfortunately–and I could not get away from the idea that Wisdom could be a real angel, Folly could-maybe-might-possibly be her sister, and what if they actually existed? I mean, what if?

Then I read the Apocryphal book of Wisdom in which Solomon asks to marry the angel Wisdom, and more bouncing off the walls commenced. I had to explore. And I don’t know if other authors feel this way about their books, but I am in love with this story. God showed me his outrageous love with every stroke of my keyboard.

Do you have a release date for Zombie Takeover?

For the love, hush! I can’t give that out without crazy fanfare! Lots of hype! Screaming, shouting, dancing–telling the whole world! In other words…no clue. It’s in another round of edits. Again. But when I get it back from my editor–oh ho ho boy!–you’d better believe there’s gonna be a release date. ASAP. (But I may have just seen a sneak peek of my cover for Kill the Beast: A Beauty and the Beast Retelling, from the talented Sara Helwe. Ahhh! Does that count?)

Absolutely that counts! Thank you so much for joining us today, Michele. We cannot wait for your upcoming news.

My pleasure! I can’t wait either. ;)

Thank you for joining us today as well, readers. Visit MicheleIsraelHarper.com to learn even more about our author. Next week, we interview Author Amy Brock McNew. She has exciting news to share about her new release, Rebirth. You won’t want to miss it.

Happy Reading!
